NIGHTLIFE
Bourbon Street is home to some of the most well known bars in the country. The first stop would be Pat O’Brien’s Bar, a dueling piano jazz bar, home of the famous “hurricane” cocktail. Next up is Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, which is the one of the longest standing structures in New Orleans and is the oldest structure in America that serves as a bar. This bar preserves its historic reputation by keeping the atmosphere dim and not using electricity. Lafitte’s serves their famous “purple drink” daquiris. When people think of New Orleans, its not out of the ordinary to picture fluorescent green colored drink in a souvenir cup that is shaped like a grenade. The hand grenade is a famous mixed drink that truly packs a punch and Tropical Isle is just the place to get it. There are various daquiri bars scattered around Bourbon, but the ones that stand out are Fat Tuesday, Willie’s Chicken Shack, Mango Mango, and Big Easy Daquiris. Each bar offers exciting daquiri flavors and large souvenir cups that you’ll want to take back home.
