You never know when an opportunity to travel may present itself, so be prepared! Don’t let your passport lapse, and stay ahead of the game on renewing it, so you don’t miss out.
Things You Need to Know:
Many countries require that your passport be valid for six months beyond your travel dates. Immigration officials know that things can come up and plans can change for travelers. Be sure your passport is valid for at least that length of time.
It’s such fun looking at all those stamps and reminiscing about places you’ve visited. But if your passport doesn’t have enough blank pages for new stamps, you may be rejected by the airlines or a country. New blank pages are never issued; you must apply for and obtain a new passport.
You can apply for a new passport at travel.state.gov, or you can go to a passport processing center, often associated with Post Offices in the United States. Be sure to allow four to six weeks for processing, or two to three weeks for expedited service. If it’s an emergency, try a processing center , even if you have to travel a distance. It’s better than missing the trip because you don’t have a valid passport.
Holding a US Passport is one of the great benefits of being a US citizen. It’s your ticket to travel anywhere in the world. Check your passport today and make sure it has not lapsed.
